PM welcomes Stephen Lawrence Trust

29 November 2007

The Prime Minister has welcomed members of the Stephen Lawrence Trust to Downing Street to mark the opening of the Stephen Lawrence Centre.

Mr Brown met representatives from the charitable organisation established in memory of Stephen Lawrence, the London teenager murdered in a racially motivated attack in 1993. The trust is engaged in a number of educational activities aimed at tackling discrimination, including the provision of bursaries for students of architecture.

The Stephen Lawrence Centre is located in Deptford, South London. Among the guests at the Number 10 reception was Doreen Lawrence, Stephen’s mother, who was awarded the OBE in 1992 along with husband Neville for services to community relations.
