Britain can help lead the world in tackling climate change, Tony Blair has said.
For an interview with ITV News, the PM was joined by Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger via video link.
Governor Schwarzenegger praised Britain for being a "great inspiration" on the issue by cutting harmful emissions while seeing its economy flourish.
He said the PM was a climate change "action hero" for helping to influence other countries in the debate.
But, Mr Blair insisted, the UK and California could not stop pollution alone. It was essential to bring countries like China and India into a global emissions trading scheme, he said.
The draft Climate Change Bill, which the PM helped launch today, is the first of its kind anywhere and sets out a framework for moving the UK to a low-carbon economy.
